Index volume Gesnerus
This index contains the following information in an alphabetical arrangement:
- all authors of articles, of essay reviews and ordinary book reviews in Gesnerus (Swiss Journal of the History of Medicine and Sciences, volumes 1–50, 1943–1993) as well as authors of Gesnerus Supplements (1990–1993) and of the Veröffentlichungen der Schweizerischen Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Medizin und der Naturwissenschaften (Publication Series of the Swiss Society of the History of Medicine and Sciences, 1922–1987) (authors’ names in capital letters),
- authors or editors of reviewed works as well as authors of edited texts (names in lowercase),
- index of persons and of contents of articles (listed above, 1.) as well as of communications. Reviewed works and the contents of the Supplements and Veröffentlichungen are not indexed.
Articles in Gesnerus have appeared in German, French, English, and Italian with a predominance of the German language. Therefore, this language has also been used for the index. However, the editors have tried to make it also useful to persons without knowledge of German. The German ä, ö, and ü are treated as ae, oe, and ue. This index has been prepared according to the general outline of the 1977 index of the Journal of the History of Medicine and Allied Sciences.
